Spectacular Silver Screen - Top 5: Films I MUST SEE In 2013

---I just thought I should mention that I have changed the segment title slightly. Spectacular sounded better than wonderful.---

Films! Oh don't you just love movies?! Imagine living without cinema, and the beauty of movies. Yes, it's probably as awful as you have imagined. I should stop making things sound bad. But seriously, it's movie time! Sort of. 2012 had amazing movies, but 2013 ones are just as exciting. Yes, I am going to be going on and on about the 5 movies that I personally am really looking forward to seeing this year. Seeing as everyone is looking forward to

  • Thor: The Dark World
  • Man of Steel
  • Star Trek Into Darkness
  • The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
  • Iron Man 3
I am not going to include them in my top 5 MUST SEE! Because who doesn't want to watch those?! (And everyone love Benedict Cumberbatch.)

This long poster looks stunning! (I am sure it's 3 posters put into 1)

1. Oz: The Great and Powerful

Genre: Fantasy, Action, Adventure

Starring: James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Joey King

Storyline: Oscar Diggs, a small-time circus magician is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz. Facing three enchantresses Theodora, Evanora and Glinda, he must use his wits and magic to convince everyone that he is the great wizard they have been expecting as the three witches all have plans for him.

I simply can not express in words how much I am looking forward to this movie. IT LOOKS SO AWESOME! The graphics look stunning. I am a huge fan of James Franco. I mean, look at him. He is fit and talented. I know you are nodding in agreement. It also have 3 amazing actresses. Even if I am not a big fan of Michelle Williams, she looks really pretty as the good witch and I can't wait to see her performance.

Here are some awesome promotional posters:

2. Beautiful Creatures

Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Drama

Starring: Alden Ehrenreich, Alice Englert, Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum

Storyline: Ethan longs to escape his small Southern town. He meets a mysterious new girl, Lena. Together, they uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town.

Erin and I are DYING to see this. OH MY GOSH! The trailer looked fantastic! Seriously, I actually screamed at my laptop: "I MUST GO SEE THIS!" when I finished the trailer. The plot just looks amazing. I know it's based on the book with the same title and I wish I have read it. I really want to read it but I never got around to doing so. I wish I could finish the book before I watch the movie, but the book is 500+ pages long! I don't have time to read that in a month, which is really sad. (Plus I haven't read a book longer than 400 pages in years.) This movie have brilliant actors. I haven't seen Emmy Rossum in a movie in ages. I liked her. I can't wait to see her character who looks so badass! This isn't really related to the movie, but I love Lena's dress in this poster. It looks so beautiful. Okay, this version doesn't show the entire dress. But I am telling you, it's a gorgeous dress.

I found this poster strangely amusing.

3. Warm Bodies

Genre: Comedy, Horror, Romance

Starring: Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, John Malkovich, Dave Franco

Storyline: After a zombie becomes involved with the girlfriend of one of his victims, their romance sets in motion a sequence of events that might transform the entire lifeless world.

Comedy Horror is such a messed up genre. It's one of the, if not the most messed up genre ever! I watched Fright Night (2011) a few weeks ago and it was a Comedy Horror. It was a hilarious movie. (My little sister got so freaked out and scared throughout the movie, it was quite amusing.) Anyway, Warm Bodies's trailer looked impressive. It looks awesome. Enough said. I am not sure why, but the story is sort of sweet in my opinion. I am sure Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer will be amazing, from what I have seen in the trailer. I found out this was based on the book and I debated whether to read it or not. I don't think I will, because apparently the book is not entirely great. I can't wait to see the movie though.

4. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

Genre: Fantasy, Action, Adventure, Romance

Starring: Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Zegers, Lena Headey

Storyline: When her mother is attacked and taken from their home in New York City by a demon, a seemingly ordinary teenage girl, Clary Fray, finds out truths about her history and bloodline on her quest to get her back which changes her entire life.

I am so glad this is coming out in the UK in the summer. I know I can't wait for this movie to come out and summer seems like a while away. However, City of Bones is on my to-read list. Given these few months, I am sure I can finish the book before the movie comes out. Hooray for that. I prefer to read the book before seeing the movie, but I never get round to it. Although I am determined this time. I am not a huge fan of Lily Collins but she looked quite good in the trailer. I know some people don't think it does the book justice, but I think as a fantasy movies, it looks excellent.

5. Jack the Giant Slayer

Genre: Adventure, Drama, Fantasy

Starring: Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Bill Nighy, Eleanor Tomlinson

Storyline: A modern day fairy tale in which the long-standing peace between men and giants is threatened, as a young farmer boy leads an expedition into the giants' kingdom in hopes of rescuing a kidnapped princess.

The trailer looked hilarious. Trailers does a lot to movies. This one really did it for me. I wasn't particularly planning on going to see this, but after the trailer, I really want to see it. Nicholas Hoult looks like a cool Jack, regardless of my sister saying he is camp or not. Plus this movie has Bill Nighy. He is just pure awesomeness.

There are also other movies that are also worth mentioning:

  • Lincoln - This looks like a movie I will be watching with my mum. She likes movies like this. (I think...)
  • Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters - I love dark takes on any fairy tales. That includes Hansel & Gretel. Plus Witch Hunters make them sound so kick-ass!
  • G.I. Joe: Retaliation - WHAT HAPPEN TO CHANNING TATUM?! I am actually quite angry that Channing Tatum doesn't have a main part in this. I was fine when they have   a whole new cast, no Sienna Miller and Joseph Gordn-Levitt. But taking Channing Tatum out is just too far for me. I loved G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. It's not my favourite film but I love watching all the action in it. I am just watching Retaliation for the action, I hoped for more from it though.
  • The Host - I have never read the book. It's too long and apparently it's not all that good. But I really want to watch this because 1. Saoirse Ronan is a fantastic actress and 2. Max Irons is really cute. They look like a great couple in the movie.
Those are my MUST SEEs. What movies are you looking forward to watching in 2013?

2013 Reading Challenges! And Books I Want To Read

I love books and reading. It's like one of my favourite hobby. Okay, maybe it's ranked more like 5th but it's quite high up there. Reading is one of my new year's resolution. Read. Read. And read some more. So, to help myself and be more motivated, as I have mentioned in my resolutions, I am participating to reading challenges. I have decided on 2 challenges. Since I have decided, here's the post ^_^

The Wishlist Challenge is hosted by Cynni @ Uniflame. Information about it is here. Basically, you read 12 books from your current wishlist, one in each month. This one looks feasible since I just got back into reading regularly. It also means I can get some books read from my ridiculously long to-read list that can probably fit 2 streets.

My List:

1. Rock and a Hard Place by Angie Stanton
2. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
3. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
4. The Treachery of Beautiful Things by Ruth Frances Long
5. If I Stay by Gayle Forman
6. Delirium by Lauren Oliver
7. The One That I Want by Jennifer Echols
8. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
9. Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
10. Entwined by Heather Dixon
11. Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood
12. Ex-mas by Kate Brian

The YA Contemporary Challenge is hosted by Katie @ Katie's Book Blog. Information about it is here. I have decided to go with Level 2 which is 10+ contemporary YA novels.

My List:

1. Also Known As by Robin Benway
2. Just One Day by Gayle Forman
3. The Reece Malcolm List by Amy Spalding
4. The Art of Wishing by Lindsay Ribar
5. How My Summer Went Up In Flames by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski
6. This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith
7. The Book of Broken Hearts by Sarah Ocklet
8. Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality by Elizabeth Eulberg
9. When You Were Here by Daisy Whitney
10. The Lucy Variations by Sarah Zarr
11. All I Need by Susane Colasanti
12. Burning by Elana K. Arnold
13. Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt

I have also decided that I need to read Sarah Dessen's books. Back in the days when I was really into YA romance, I loved Sarah Dessen. I remember I even gave Beth Lock and Key for her birthday. Cathy Cassidy and Sarah Dessen is what originally got me into all the heart-throbs, heart-breaks and such that comes with YA contemporary romances. 2012 YA contemporary romance novels and some fantasy ones had really caught my eye. So I most definitely will be reading some of those on my to-read list.

2013 has a lot of science fiction and fantasy new releases. Yes, YA science fiction and/or fantasy is the best genre ever. It has been and will remain my favourite genre. Here are some that caught my eye and I probably will read this year. (Yes, we can doing this eye-candy style!)

Top 5: Awesome Presents

Hello Sleepy Dreamers! Happy Boxing Day!

Presents are awesome. People would claim that surprises are better. But NO! They are not. Surprises are great, but I have an awful surprise face so I must say presents are more awesome. Since it's Boxing Day and I am stuck at home being bored... I am going to do the top 5 most awesome presents you can receive. These are all just my opinion and what I would loved, but I am sure everyone would like these too. Let's say it's like my present (Christmas) wishlist.

1. Dr Martens Boots

Oh my gosh! I am like in love with the Dr Marten Boots. The classic ones. I am not so into the new ones. I mean, the original boots are just beauty in a pair of shoes. I have a bad habit of noticing nice shoes in whatever I am watching, like films, animes or even just in posters. I always notice cool shoes, especially boots.

Guess what? My parents are actually getting me a pair for the New Year! I am so excited! It's like a present to celebrate the New Year, instead of Christmas. I don't know why but I prefer celebrating New Year? I did say that they are really expensive but my parents insisted on getting me a pair because of how much I love it and they just love me. So YAY!

Yes, I have decided to go with the classic, shiny red ones. They are so adorable! They are also very versatile so I can wear it most of the year. Black would be more versatile but red does go with a lot of things.

Okay, how I decided that I love Dr Marten boots was because I was looking through my kid photos a few months ago. I saw my 4 years old? (I can't remember exactly how old I was) wearing a pair of red Dr Martens. It was really funny because I was super jealous of mini me that I had awesome shoes.  What I also discovered was that:
  1. I was a fricking awesome kid.
  2. I had and still have cool fashion taste.

Moreover, I saw Liz Gilles (Jade) wearing a pair in victorious. Yes, I am 15 and I watch victorious when I am bored. Just because I love Liz Gilles and it's a bit of a guilty pleasure. Liz has such awesome fashion and her hair is amazing. She totally rocked the Dr Martens! Okay, now I am considering to go with this dark cherry colour instead of the classic red shiny one. Hmm......

How classy is this?! This pattern is really pretty.
I am just not that kind of girl who would wear this though.

These are adorable! I love Hello Kitty.

2. Perfume - Nina by Nina Ricci

Fresh, magical and floral scent blended together with calabrese, lemon and lime, caipirinha, red toffee apple, vanilla infusion, moonflower, peony petals, apple tree wood, cotton musk and white cadar.

This is my all time favourite perfume ever! I have loved this for years and sadly, I don't own a bottle. Wish I do but I am hopefully getting it soon. It just smells so nice and floral and gosh! I am just in love with this scent. Totally check it our if you haven't. Actually, my mum is getting me this. YAY!

3. Onesie

As sad as it sounds, I have not had a onesie before. I am dying to get one. They look all warm and cosy for the winter and cold weather. I do have a fluffy pink blanket at the moment, but I really want a proper onesie.

These two are gorgeous! But they are pricey so I did search around town and found a really nice and similar one at Republic. They had a really nice navy blue one with pink and white patterns on it. However, that was also quite pricey, coming to about 50 pounds. I then found a nice one at New Look, which I debated on getting on not, because it was an okay price and the pattern was nice. I might just even get one online when I find a perfect one.

4. Victorinox Pocket Knife

I have to admit, but I do really want a set of white screwdrivers, some matches and a lighter. Those are things I would want, but not the utmost awesome. However, I really really want my own pocket knife. One with my name on would be cool but I just "need" a Victorinox pocket knife. They are not that expensive so I am totally asking my dad to get me one. I don't know if he would actually say yes, considering he still think of my as tofu. He did gave me his a few days ago. But I want my own one. Plus my little sister and mum decided that I am FAR TOO dangerous with a weapon and they want to live. So I am returning my dad's awesome one to him. There are 3 types that I would love to get:
  1. Classic. (I do love things that are classy classic)
  2. Tomo
  3. Deluxe Tinker
Classic
Tomo - Mint Green
Super Tinker

5. Mug / Travel Mug

Who doesn't love a cute mug?! I do love adorable ceramic mugs. Especially a travel mug. Sadly, I don't collect cute mugs. But they make really good presents. They don't even have to be cute! Sometimes, the mugs with meaningful words or photos on are also delightful. My little sister got me a ceramic travel mug! She is sort of nice like that, given that she doesn't annoy me. She annoys me 70% of the time. Here are some awesome and cute mugs I found on pinterest.

P.S. How awesome would it be to get a designer handbag? Wish I have one. But that's not happening anytime soon. These two are my favourites.

P.P.S. Here's my favourite presents from my parents!

I love my new checked pjs!

-ing #01

Before I start this post... IT'S DECEMBER! So... Christmas! woo! Winter is like official. (Just thought it was worth mentioning.)

International Nutella Gala!!!

Joking! I do love Nutella though. -ing is basically I tell you guys what I have been... well, for example, reading at the moment. Hence the -ing ending. Not the most creative segment name, I know. But it will do.

Reading: Enchanted by Alethea Kontis

I am about... 70 pages into this book? It's 305 pages long... so I really am not that far in. It is quite a light and sweet read. It has more than one fairytale aspect in, so it's very fun.

I can't actually get this book where I live, so I ordered it hardback on bookdepository.co.uk. They have free shipping, so it's brilliant.

Check out the reviews of Enchanted on Goodreads (Click on the word). I am not sure whether I will write a review on this after I finish or not, since I am awful at writing reviews. I also have a lot of books on my to-read list... however, this is not great since I am awfully slow at reading.

Watching (TV series): Once Upon A Time

I AM FRICKING IN LOVE WITH THIS SHOW! I absolutely adore it. It's totally up my street in terms of story.

I still need to see the 9th episode of season 2 (which airs tonight) but I am currently in tears (I am not, but that is just me being me and very dramatic). This winter finale is killing me. 4 weeks! That's 4 weeks of no fun! How can it takes 4 weeks to resume the series? I just.... am addicted to this series. If you haven't seen or heard of it:
  1. You have not lived
  2. You need to check it out. NOW! Immediately.
  3. WATCH IT! and LOVE IT
My favourite characters are definitely Belle, Rumplestiltskin, Snow (NOT Mary Margaret) and Ruby/Red. They are so awesome for so many different reasons. Watch the show and you will see why. For the record, this show has a habit of having cute guys. Just so you are warned.

If you haven't realise already, there is a pattern. I love my fairytales. I love them so much! I love it when they remake a fairytale with twists and surprises, since I am very good at predicating plots.

Magazine-ing: Company December 2012

I love my fashion magazines. I am not a fashion guru and is "dope" with fashion, but I do like reading fashion magazines. Sometimes Korean or Japanese fashion, but those are hard to get my hands on. So I usually stick to ones I can get at supermarkets.

Company is one of my favourite high-street fashion magazine. I have a lot of their volumes, like the February one and the September one. I just really like the content that they have and the price is so reasonable.

Searching: Christmas presents

If I have an idea, I am great at presents. If I don't have a single clue, I am terrible.

It's coming up to Christmas soon and I really need to get my friends and family presents. I have no luck right now. I just don't know what to get everyone. But I am searching and hopefully, I will be a present master! mwahahahahahaha. I have considered making people things, but I am really bad. So that's one option down, 67 more to go.

I also just finished my truly horrible week of mock exams! YAY! All the revising and stuff was just so stressful and I am just so glad that's over and done with. Having 7 exams was not easy. Just... fingers crossed that my results turn out okay.

That is all. Byebye~
